Peter, doing a demonstration by building a carrot couple in an over stuffed chair in TB-9.
Ahhh, the story of our lives is in the sign above him, complete with misspelling.

Typical of Peter, he forgot that the clay of the handle would slump in the kiln but it worked out okay anyway.

This is a lidded cup in the shape of a carrot with wood excelsior rootlets that is planted in a box of actual dirt. It was made one summer when Peter thought he had cancer and was drinking a lot of carrot juice to cure himself.

Peter has very vague memories of a spinster aunt who lived also in Indonesia.
"She was always behind a sewing machine, sewing clothes with her hair tied back."

This piece went into a show at The Candy Store Gallery. As was often usual with Peter it was hot out of the kiln, so he used kiln bricks to finish the piece. The umbrella is a memory from Indonesian puppets.

Green Lake Beans, 1964. This very fragile piece was shipped to a show and the only way Peter could think of to pack it safely was in a box filled with dirt. The curators sent it back thinking it was some sort of statement by the artist without finding the piece inside.

Cozy Carrots in an Over Stuffed Chair, 1972

Kokain Joe and 5 Bucks, 1974

At one time, Peter meant to do a whole garden but ended up only making a couple of rows of cabbages.
